The Malaysian state of Johor is situated in the southernmost tip of the peninsular where it’s closest to neighbouring country Singapore. Johor and Singapore are connected by an approximately one-kilometre causeway which is the busiest land crossing in the world.
Due to its close proximity to Singapore, Johor has the potential to attract foreign investments in property. As property prices increase in Singapore, some might be looking to purchase homes in Johor where living costs are more affordable.
As a foreigner, you can buy certain properties in Malaysia that meet a minimum price threshold set by the government. The price threshold can differ according to states and types of properties and lands.
In Johor, foreigners can purchase landed properties whether directly or indirectly from a developer with the conditions below:
- Landed property in designated international zones priced at least RM2million
- High-rise or strata property within non-designated international zones priced at least RM1million
We explore five different terrace homes foreigners can buy in Malaysia.
