One such career is joining the Royal Malaysia Police (RMP). The profession of policing is one that is unique in terms of the specific skills and training required as well as having the responsibility to safeguard citizens and authority to act in critical situations.

Salaries And Remunerations
Depending on the position level and qualifications of a candidate, the salary of a police officer may differ. According to the Royal Malaysia Police’s website, the following are the estimated salaries for police officers.

Additionally, individuals working in the Royal Malaysia Police are also entitled to several benefits including allowance for outstation duty and court appearances, and are entitled to claim for phone, transportation, medical, toll and parking expenses.
Requirements To Enter The Royal Malaysia Police
There are mainly four positions in the Royal Malaysia Police that you can apply for, which are Native Police Constable, Police Constable, Sergeant and Inspector.
Generally, you will need to fulfil the following requirements to join the Royal Malaysia Police:
- Malaysian citizen
- At least 18 years old and not over 28 years old
- Physical Requirements:
- Minimum height of 163cm for males and 157 for females, without shoes
- Minimum weight of 50kg for males and 48 kg for females
- Has a Body Mass Index (BMI) between 19 and 26
- Chest measurement of 81cm at rest and 86cm when breathing in for males
- Has a 6/9 vision without the help of glasses
- No disabilities in hearing and color recognition
- Certified fit for duty by a registered medical practitioner in a government institution
For those who want to apply to be a Native Police Constable, you will need to be a Malaysian male citizen with a native origin in accordance to the Akta Orang-Orang Asli 1974.
The minimum academic requirements differ according to the job grade you’re applying for.

Applying To Join The Royal Malaysia Police
You can apply to join the police force online via the Royal Malaysia Police’s e-Recruitment System. To apply, you will need to register as a user.
Applicants can log into the system to check for position openings, apply for a position and check the status of their applications.
The police force will then shortlist candidates for a physical test and interview. The physical test consists of a fitness check, heigh and weight measurements and test of marching commands. The test typically takes one day at a Royal Malaysia Police training institution.
Once candidates completed the interviews, they will be contacted within six months should they be selected to join the police force. If, however they were not contacted, it would mean that they have failed the interview and can reapply.
Receiving Training
Successful candidates will undergo a one-year training at a Police Training Centre. After completion of training, they will be placed or transferred according to assignment requirements of vacancies in contingents across the country.
