There are 1.9 million residents living in Kuala Lumpur in 2020. Considering the relatively smaller size of the territory at only 243 square kilometres, the city population is quite concentrated. Comparatively, a larger state like Kedah, which measures 9,500 square kilometres, recorded a population of 2.1 million.
However, as urban life in Kuala Lumpur can get quite busy, city dwellers may be interested in getting a property that is situated outside of Kuala Lumpur which they can visit for holiday during the weekends.
Genting Highlands, situated in the mountaintop with an elevation of up to 1,865 metres in the Titiwangsa range, boasts cool weather and natural surroundings. It is a mere one-hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur, making it an accessible location to city dwellers who want a brief respite.
We explore the properties in Genting Highlands and how much they cost.
Genting Highlands – Integrated Resort, Holiday Attractions, And Entertainment
Resorts World Genting (RWG) is the top tourist destination in Malaysia, having received almost 30 million visitors in 2019. The integrated resort has seven hotels and golf resort, several theme parks outdoor and indoor, shopping complexes, restaurants and casinos all rolled into one destination.
The economic activities in Genting Highlands are centred around tourism with farms, restaurants and attractions to cater to holidaymakers. There are also education institutions in Genting Highlands namely the Saleha Private Secondary School, Highlands International Boarding School and Genting Inti International College.
The Gleneagles Hospital Kuala Lumpur is situated around an hour’s drive from Genting Highlands. There are many eateries and grocery stores within and outside Resorts World Genting including the Hilltop Grocer and KK Super Mart.
With a short distance away from Kuala Lumpur city centre and entertainment attractions, Genting Highlands could make an ideal holiday home. However, as you will not always be based in your holiday home, you may require assistance with keeping the home clean or regular check-ins. So, it may be important to consider if the property has lobby services. If you’re thinking of renting out your property, there are rental management services which you can subscribe to. These services typically include rental management, maintenance of property and guest services.

Having A Holiday Home In Genting Highlands
Aside from being an entertainment destination, Genting Highlands’ nature and cool climate could be an exciting setting for a holiday home. There are a few things to consider when it comes to owning a holiday home in the highlands such as having assistance with maintaining the property or having on-site guest services. Besides, it’s important to also consider if the area where the property is built is prone to landslides especially during rainy seasons.
Aside from that, the location of holiday homes being near Genting Highlands means that residents will have access to theme parks, shopping spots, and dining venues. The cooler climate is also a coveted feature of the highlands in a country where it experiences humidity all year round.
