Broadband has become essential in homes as almost everything we do requires internet access nowadays, especially as more people are working or studying from home. According to Proxyrack, Malaysia had the third highest daily internet usage out of 25 countries at around eight hours per day, with a high internet adoption rate of 96.8%.
There are typically two types of broadband plans in Malaysia, which are Wi-Fi and fibre plans. When choosing a home broadband plan, one can consider several factors such as the contract duration and internet speed.
Before selecting a plan, you should also check if your home is within the service coverage of the provider.
No Contract Broadband Plans
While the 24-month contract plans are the most popular plans in the market, there are several providers that offer the option of subscribing to home broadband plans without a contract.
CelcomDigi offers a no contract and at RM139 per month. Subscribers will have to make a one-month advance payment while foreign users will need to place a RM500 deposit. This plan does not come with a router.
Maxis has a choice of three plans that don’t require contract signing at a price range of RM69 to RM139. Maxis charges a lower deposit of RM300 for foreign users.
Time is the only provider that offers no contract fibre plans starting from RM99 to RM199. There is a one-time charge for no contract plans ranging from RM400 to RM800.
Lastly, U Mobile also has a no contract plan at RM78.
